The Chinese government has assured that it is committed to compensate the crew and the owner of a fishing boat which sunk after being rammed by a Chinese vessel last year in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).

“Both sides have taken constructive approach to handle this accident,” Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian said during an interview over CNN Philippines regarding the sinking of the Filipino fishing boat Gem-Vir 1.

“The association of fishermen in China has promised to compensate for the loss of the Philippine fishermen,” Huang said on Friday. (Jeffrey Damicog)
