Old, old plant

I READ a friend’s Facebook post recently saying that his ginkgo plant has been growing wonderfully well.

He even showed a picture of the potted plant.

Ginkgo, which is an herb, helps clear headaches and confusion by increasing the flow of blood to the brain.

According to the book, Nature’s Prescriptions, one study found gingko increased blood flow to the brain by 70 per cent in persons between 50 to 70 years old.

Ginkgo biloba, commonly known as ginkgo or gingko is also known as the maidenhair tree, according to Wikipedia.

It is the only living species in the division Ginkgophyta, all others being extinct. Scientists call the ginkgo a fossil tree, considering its long history.

Ginkgo, which is native to China, is found in fossils dating back to 270 million years.

Some pharmaceutical companies use ginkgo extracts in producing medicines meant to enhance memory, or to arrest memory loss.

Three C’s are said to be major headache triggers.

They are foods we like and love. They are Cheese, Chocolates, and Citrus.

They contain substances that affect the brain, leading to migraine attacks.

Headache is among the symptoms of Covid-19.

TRIVIA PA MORE (Various Sources): Did you know that frogs don’t drink? They absorb water through openings on their skin.

Koalas probably sleep the longest among animals. They can sleep for a straight 18 hours a day.

Giraffes and rats can last longer without water than camels. To think that camels live in the desert!
