Serbia clobbers Gilas Youth

Gilas Pilipinas Youth once again threw everything it had, but again suffered a humiliating defeat.

Up against the world No. 4 Serbs, the Nationals proved no match as they took an 87-60 beating at the start of the knockout stages of the 2019 Fiba Under-19 World Cup at Heraklion Indoor Sports Arena early Thursday morning (Manila time).

Gonzaga-bound center Filip Petrusev led the Serbs with 11 points, including the big ones in a telling 17-1 second-quarter run that saw them pull away for good.

The loss was the fourth straight for Gilas Youth which was again led by Dave Ildefonso with 18 points, three rebounds, and two assists while Kai Sotto produced 13 points and eight boards and Gerry Abadiano added 12 points, two rebounds, and two assists.
