NU jins keep PH League overall title

National University’s fighters produced another impressive performance to emerge as overall champion anew in the 2017 Smart/MVP Sports Foundation Philippine Taekwondo League held in various SM Supermalls.

The NU jins dominated the 57-team competition by winning the gold medals in the senior men, senior women and junior men’s events.

San Beda College topped the junior women’s division while Diliman Preparatory School and Emilio Aguinaldo College took the Cadet boys and Cadet girls titles, respectively.

Makati Congressman Monsour del Rosario and Stephen Fernandez, the tournament’s Commissioner and Tournament Director, respectively said the Philippine Taekwondo League was organized to give future Olympians a venue to showcase their skills and techniques.

Each team in the tourney supported by PLDT, Meralco, Philippine Sports Commission and Philippine Olympic Committee was composed of 15 to 20 jins.

Other teams which bagged runnerup honors were:

Senior men: University of the East, second; De La Salle University, third.

Senior women: De La Salle University, second; Ateneo de Manila University, third

Junior men: University of Santo Tomas, second; Ateneo de Manila University, third.

Junior women: Arellano University, second; Diliman Preparatory School, third.

Cadet boys: San Beda College, second; De La Salle Araneta University, third.

Cadet girls: De La Salle Araneta University, second; Diliman Preparatory School, third.
