The Philippine National Police (PNP) has infused a religious touch in the peace and order strategy in Marawi by appointing an imam as the police chief of the city.

“He will be a much-needed spiritual boost to our brothers in Marawi City,” said Chief Supt. Reuben Theodore Sindac, director of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

He is referring to Supt. Ebra Moxsir, Al Haj, who served in the PNP chaplain Service and president of the Imam Council of the Philippines.

Moxsir replaced Chief Insp. Parson Asadin.

Sindac said they are confident that Moxsir will earn the respect of the people of Marawi City because aside from being an imam, he is also a full-bloodied Maranao.

“He is expected to deliver a traditional yet innovative ways of handling his area of responsibility,” said Sindac.
