TACLOBAN CITY – A passenger bus caught fire after one of its rear wheels blew up while plying the Maharlika Highway in Poblacion 2 in San Jorge, Samar, on Thursday.

All the 53 passengers were safe, police said.

Initial investigation showed that a Silver Star bus, driven by one Joseph Sunico, which came from Naval, Biliran, was travelling the highway in Poblacion 2 when its rear-left tire blew up, causing fire.

The whole bus was engulfed by flames, but all of the passengers were safely evacuated. No one was reported injured.
It was declared fire out at around 1:25 p.m. by responding personnel of San Jorge Bureau of Fire Protection. (Marie Tonette Marticio)
