Teaching allowed

Manila, Philippines – The Supreme Court (SC) has amended the rules and regulations on teaching of justices, judges, and personnel of the Judiciary.

In an en banc resolution signed by Clerk of Court Atty. Enriqueta E. Vidal, the SC said that “teaching shall in no case be conducted earlier than 5:30 p.m. on regular working days (Monday through Friday) and 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays.”

“Teaching shall be allowed for not more than ten (10) hours a week. Teaching on regular working days…shall be limited to, at most, two (2) hours a day,” the resolution said.

An application for permission to teach filed by a justice, judge, or personnel shall require approval from their approving authorities.

However, the approving authority “may deny the application or allow less than 10 hours of teaching a week, depending on the applicant’s performance record.” (PNA)
