SINAIT, Ilocos Sur – A 4.5-magnitude earthquake rocked Wednesday night some areas in Northern and Central Luzon and in Metro Manila, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported yesterday.
Local Phivolcs Researcher Porferio de Peralta said the tremor occurred at 10:46 p.m. with its epicenter located at 4 kilometers southwest of San Quintin, Pangasinan, with a depth of 29 kilometers.
He said Intensity 3 was felt in Caloocan City, Mandaluyong City, Baguio City, Dagupan City, and Binalonan, Pangasinan; Intensity 2 in Quezon City, Pasig City, Taguig City, Pasay City, Gapan City, Cabanatuan City, Palayan City, Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija; and Baler Aurora, while Intensity 1 was recorded in Lucban, Quezon province.
He said the quake was tectonic in origin and aftershocks were expected. (Freddie G. Lazaro)
