Manila, Philippines – A store owner was gunned down in front of his home in Quezon City before dawn yesterday.
A bystander was shot and hurt during the incident.
Investigator PO2 Anthony Tejerero identified the victim as Rico Aranillo, 45, of Agham Road, Barangay Bagong Pag-Asa, Quezon City.
Tejerero said that Aranillo sustained multiple bullet wounds. Aranillo was taken to the East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) in Quezon City but was declared dead on arrival.
Tejerero identified the wounded as Gerry Comora, 36, also a resident of Agham Road. Comora sustained a bullet wound in the right leg and was also taken to the EAMC.
The investigator learned from witnesses that there were around five unidentified men involved in the shooting. The gunmen used a Toyota Tamaraw FX and two motorcycles as their getaway vehicles.
Witnesses told police that they saw the Tamaraw FX and the two motorcycles arrive together. Each motorcycle carried two men.
After the Tamaraw FX parked in front of the Philippine Science High School, its occupant disembarked and crossed the street where Aranillo’s store was located.
Without warning, the gunman started shooting at Aranillo who was closing his store then quickly returned to the Tamaraw FX. (Jeffrey G. Damicog)
