Batangas village chief slain

NASUGBU, Batangas – A 50-year-old barangay chairman was shot dead Sunday night by a suspected hired killer in front of a village hall in Barangay 4, here.

PO2 Ramon Sale, Nasugbu police investigator, said village chief Engineer Enrique Valencia was having a conversation with his nephew in front of the barangay hall around 6:06 p.m. when the suspect clad in a red jacket suddenly appeared and shot him once with a shotgun.

The armed man ran towards a waiting motorcycle driven by another suspect.

Valencia died while being treated at the Western Batangas Medical Hospital in nearby Balayan town.

Sale said an artist sketch of the suspect will be released by the Police Regional Office (PRO) 4-A. (Ferdinand Castro)
