Biggest NPA bomb factory found

Philippines – The military discovered a land mine factory of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Agusan del Sur where it also recovered at least 163 improvised bombs, a spokesman for the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) said.

Reports reaching the AFP headquarters at Camp. Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo showed the discovery of the NPA land mine factory in Sitio Mapait, Barangay Kauswagan, Loreto town, Agusan Del Sur last Wednesday was made possible with the help of villagers who informed the government security forces.

Lt. Gen. Ricardo Rainier Cruz III, EastMinCom commander, said “this is the biggest NPA land mine factory discovered so far.”

“Indeed, the timely recovery of NPA land mines by our troops saved lives of the public,” Cruz said, noting that the explosives could kill “thousands” if detonated simultaneously.

Cruz lauded the concerned villagers for reporting to them the location of the NPA land mine factory.

He further said: “The NDF wants to talk peace with the government However, they still continue to manufacture weapon of mass destruction. It is clear that the NDF are not really sincere about peace after all. Your AFPPNP will continue to safeguard the people from NPA extortion, deception and intimidation.”
