Press Congress moved to January

The First Countryside Press Congress, scheduled from December 5 to 8 at the Aklan State University (ASU) and Boracay, was moved to January 20-23.

Set to highlight the celebration of the 50th founding anniversary of the Federation of Provincial Press Clubs of the Philippines Inc. (FPPCP), the First Countryside Press Congress aims to tackle raging issues confronting the nation such as climate change, disaster preparedness, environment, good governance, corporate social responsibility, responsible news reporting, and other media concerns.

The nationwide media event was postponed due to the onslaught of typhoon “Yolanda” that devastated the Visayas, including Aklan.

Juan P. Dayang, chairman of the FPPCP 50th founding anniversary celebration, said program of activities will be the same.

The week-long Ati-atihan celebration in Kalibo, Aklan, considered to be “Mother of all Philippine Festivals,” will usher in the FPPCP Countryside Press Congress.
