Kidnapped trader, engineer freed

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Kidnapped businessman and his company engineer were released by their captors Monday exactly six days after they were snatched in Lanao del Norte.

Robert Kua, owner of Findlay Millar Timber Company, and Engr. Edwin dela Torre were released around 9 p.m., Monday after a negotiation initiated by former Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Vicente “Dongkoy” Emano.

Emano said he personally fetched the kidnap victims in an undisclosed area.

The Kua family reportedly has closed ties with the Emanos and had sought his help to negotiate for the release of the victims.

Emano said the kidnappers asked for P15 million, but the victims were released without paying the ransom except for “board and lodging” fees. (Camcer Ordonez Imam)
