Today is the National Day of Oman, which coincides with the 73rd Birth Anniversary of Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said.
Sultan Qaboos bin Said came into office on July 23, 1970. His Majesty’s reign began a new era that renewed Oman’s historic glories and opened a new chapter of development, prosperity, and social and economic progress. His Majesty is a renowned peacemaker who in 1998 was presented with the International Peace Award by the National Council on United States of America-Arab relations. His reign has been establishing strong diplomatic relationships with other Arab states and partners in the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council (AGCC). His Majesty, Sultan Qaboos, encourages market-oriented policies and private sector development as the mechanism for prosperity and growth. He regularly visits various parts of Oman and citizens can appeal to the Sultan in person for any grievances or requests.
As one of the most stable and developed countries in the Arab world, Oman enjoys a stable political, economic, and social system which is enhanced by excellent relationships between the Sultanate and neighboring countries. It is categorized as a high-income economy and one of the most peaceful countries in the world.
