GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Police arrested Thursday a suspected drug pusher implicated in the killing of a photojournalist in August.
Supt. Romulo Estocapio, regional police spokesman, said the suspect, Jerry Intoman, was arrested by joint elements of Regional Special Investigation and Detection Team and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Sta. Cruz Silway in Barangay Dadiangas West, a known drug haven in the city.
Lawmen seized from the suspect one sachet of suspected shabu, .9mm calibre pistol with marking of PNP property and P1,000 marked money. Estocapio said Intoman was tagged as the alleged suspect in the gun-slaying of Mario Sy, a photographer of a local tabloid Sapol News, on August while the victim was resting inside his house also in Sta. Cruz Silway.
Relatives and colleagues of Sy claimed the victim was killed due to his vocal stance against the rampant proliferation of illegal drugs in their area. (Joseph Jubelag)
