‘Batman’ lynched by mob

Manila, Philippines – A robber was lynched by an angry mob after he and his cohort held up jeepney passengers and stabbed one of his pursuers on Tuesday, police said.

Suspect Jayson Encabo, a.k.a. Batman, of No. 2430 Gamban Ext., Ilang-Ilang St., Pasay City, died when he was beaten up by angry citizens who responded to the incident.

SPO1 Joel Landicho, officer on case, said Encabo and his cohort boarded a Baclaran-bound jeepney. They announced the holdup upon reaching the corner of Aurora Blvd. and Tramo St.

Out of fear, one of the passengers identified as Marina Jaime, 53, of No. 140 Tramo Riverside, jumped off the jeepney, sustaining injuries in the process.

Then, at knife point, the suspects started taking the belongings of the other passengers, one of them Glowell Toleos, 34.

However, 22-year-old computer technician Conrado Patinio refused to give his bag to the robbers, causing a commotion inside the jeepney.

A group of men standing in front Sgt. Mariano Cemetery noticed the situation inside the jeep, prompting the two suspects to alight from the vehicle.

Bystanders, including 17-year-old Martin Guial, ran after the robbers. During the chase, Guial was stabbed by Encabo, which only angered the mob more.

One of the men stoned Encabo causing him to fall down after which the other pursuers beat him up to death.
