A record 702 participants were recorded in last Sunday’s “Laro’t Saya sa Luneta“ organized by Philippine Sports Commission chairman Richie Garcia.
“First time in six months our program recorded this big number of participants. Chairman Garcia was elated of the big turnout,“ said project director Larry Domingo.
Close to 20,000 participants had already availed of the health and body fitness project patterned after the ones employed in Brazil and Argentina.
Domingo and his staff of Norberto Dinglasan, Warren Gabriel and Fred Joves installed three more badminton nets, a pairs of football goal nets, two volleyball nets and 10 table chess under the supervision of national master Cesar Caturla.
Aerobics recorded the biggest number of participants with 422, followed by football 57, badminton 54, volleyball 34, chess 32, arnis 30, and karatedo 22.
Aerobics was supervised by Mildred Lachica and May Avitan of the Luneta National Development Park while Vicente Sanchez, a noted martial arts expert and a colleague of the renowned Danny Inosanto, gave tips in arnis. (Clyde Mariano)
