Fisherman shot dead

CAVITE CITY – A fisherman was shot dead by a still unidentified man in front of a barangay hall in this city. Police identified the fatality as one Jeffrey S. Bernal, 37, also known as Papu, married, of Bagong Purok Street, Barangay 36-M, Caridad, Cavite City.

Bernal died on the spot from bullet wounds in the head and body. The gunman fled after the shooting in front of Barangay 36-M Hall at 5:45 a.m. Thursday. Police Officer III Rodel Noo Buitizon said the motive of the attack has yet to be ascertained. Recovered at the crime scene were five unknown caliber shells and three slugs.

In his report, Buitizon said the Scene of the Crime Operation (SoCO) team found a plastic sachet containing shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in the victim’s short’s left pocket and R467 cash in the right pocket. (Anthony Giron)
