GMA Network grabbed nationwide TV ratings leadership in August on the back of its strong performance in the daytime block, according to data from the industry’s leading ratings service provider, Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.
For the period Aug. 1 to 31 (Aug. 25 to 31 based on overnight ratings), GMA triumphed over ABSCBN in National Urban Television Audience Measurements (NUTAM) ratings with a 34.3 percent total day audience share, higher than ABS-CBN’s 33.7 percent and TV5’s 12.9 percent.
GMA also outnumbered ABS-CBN in the list of top performing programs in Urban Luzon with 18 out of 30 shows. Multi-awarded news magazine program “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho“ emerged as the most watched program in Urban Luzon.
More Kapuso programs also made it to the top 10 with primetime drama “Anna Karenina,“ flagship newscast “24 Oras,“ drama anthology “Magpakailanman,“ reality sitcom “Pepito Manaloto: Ang Tunay Na Kuwento,“ and GMA primetime dramas “Mundo Mo’y Akin,“ and “My Husband’s Lover.“
