UFL: Azkals U-23 see action

The Philippine Azkals U-23, with their campaign in the Myanmar Southeast Asian Games still in limbo, will compete in the first United Football League preseason tournament which opens today at the Emperador Stadium in McKinley Hill.

Scottish coach Brian Reid is using the month-long tournament to hone the U-23 squad, which is hoping to convince the SEA Games Task Force to include them in the final list of participants for the December 11-22 sportsfest.

Leading the charge for the 25-man U-23 team are senior players Marwin Angeles, Marvin Angeles, Jeffrey Christaens, OJ Porteria, Joshua Beloya, Jason De Jong, Mark Hartmann and Matthew Uy, who were given the clearance by their UFL clubs to play in the preseason. (Jonas Terrado)
