Gay rumor

Dear Manay Gina,

Gina De VeneciaMy older sister, after so many years of searching for a boyfriend, has now found a guy, her co-worker who has a sense of humor similar to her own. He is handsome, stylish and well-established at their work. Basically, he’s everything she’s been looking for, and lately she’s been thinking about him more and more in a romantic sense.

The only thing is: Everybody has assumed that this guy is gay, though she has never said anything to that effect. I have a bad feeling about this situation also, because my sister is very choosy when it comes to boys. She’s asking me for advice on how to deal with it, and I don’t know what to tell her.

Dear Lenny,

The best thing for you to tell her is to let things progress as they will, and to keep her antennae up for whether or not this man wants to be friends or lovers. No one knows the fine details that go on in someone else’s relationship. Only your sister and his special friend know what they are really about. It is her decision to make and if it ends up being a mistake, it will have to be something of a lesson she learns. But it is her choice.

If the relationship is allowed to develop, your sister will most likely find out soon enough whether or not this gentleman is heterosexual.

It is also likely that if you have heard the gay rumors, so has your sister.
