Batang Pinoy shortened

The Batang Pinoy has been shortened to three from the original six legs to avoid getting caught by unpredictable bad weather.

“We scrapped three legs in Luzon simply to expedite the competition as you all know the condition is unpredictable with the entry of rainy season,” said project director Jay Alano.

Scrapped are the National Capital Region, Southern Luzon and Northern Luzon.

The competition fires off on August 27 in Mindanao in Tagum City, Davao del Norte, followed by the Visayas leg on Sept. 24 in Maasin, Leyte; and the Luzon phase on Oct. 15 in Iba, Zambales.

The national finals will be held on Nov. 19 in Zamboanga del Norte featuring 23 sports, including 3-on-3 basketball boys and girls.

New faces are expected to surface in the fourth edition of the grassroots competition organized by PSC and supported by Philippine Olympic Committee and Local Government Units. (CM)
