After the successful staging of the Philippine National Games, Philippine Sports Commission focus its attention on another multi-event, four-leg Batang Pinoy which features athletes 15 years old and below.
The first leg starts in Mindanao on August 27-30 in Tagum City, Davao del Norte, followed by the second leg in the Visayas on Sept. 24-28 in Roxas City, and Luzon on Oct 22-26 in Iba, Zambales.
Qualified athletes after three legs will show their wares in the grand finals on December 3-7 in Zamboanga City.
“Batang Pinoy is a breeding ground of future athletes like the PNG. Hopefully, more fresh talents will surface in the competitions,“ said Chairman Ricardo “Richie“ Garcia.
Project director Atty. Jay Alano said around 3,000 athletes are expected to compete per leg.
The finals was held last year in Dapitan, Zamboanga del Norte, site of the 2010 Palarong Pambansa. (Clyde Mariano)
