The National Career Assessment Examination (NCAE) for Grade 8 students under the K-to-12 curriculum on August 27 “shall no longer be administered,“ the Department of Education (DepEd) said yesterday.

Education Secretary Armin Luistro cancelled the test per DepEd Order No. 10, Series of 2013 or the “Calendar of Activities for School Year (SY) 2013-2014“ through DepEd Memorandum No. 111, Series of 2013.

Luistro said that the DepEd, through the National Education Testing and Research Center (NETRC), with the assistance of the divisions, public and private secondary school personnel will still administer the NCAE “to third-year high school students under the Basic Education Curriculum (BEC) in both public and private secondary schools on August 28, 2013“ penciled under DepEd Memorandum No. 153, Series of 2011, entitled “Changes to DepEd Order No. 28 Series of 2011“ (calendar of activities for school year 2011-2012)“ and in DepEd Order No. 10, Series of 2013.
