CV dengue cases up

DUMAGUETE CITY ­- The Department of Health (DoH) 7 revealed yesterday an alarming figure that showed dengue cases in the entire Central Visayas have increased 99.5% in the first five months of this year. From January to May this year, the Regional Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (RESU) of the DoH 7 has registered 5,070 dengue cases in the region with 15 fatalities. The bulk of the cases occurred in Cebu City, the DoH 7 report said.

During the same period last year, only 2,541 cases were registered but with more fatalities at 19. Cebu City continues to lead the number of cases in the entire Central Visayas, having registered 754 cases in the first five months of the year with two fatalities. (Mars W. Mosqueda, Jr.)
