MACAU –Milan Melindo and newly-crowned world flyweight king Juan Francisco Estrada of Mexico found themselves in the center of attention early Sunday morning at the CotaiArena.
Fresh from dethroning Brian Viloria, Estrada and Melindo bumped into each other during the post-fight press conference and Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum made an informal announcement that the two punchers are destined to face each other sometime in August here.
Melindo made a splash in the undercard of the Zou Shiming headliner by knocking out Indonesian Tommy Seran, putting himself on course for a mandatory title shot at Estrada.
“I have what it takes to beat him,” said Melindo, oozing with confi dence.
As Estrada was on his way out, Mexican promoter Fernando Beltran called his fighter so he could pose for a shot with the unbeaten Cebu hotshot.
Estrada and Melindo shook hands.
The next time they get to see each other, it will either be during the press conference for their showdown.
ALA Boxing executive Dennis Canete admits Melindo is going to have a rough time against Estrada. (Nick Giongco)
