Manila, Philippines – The Department of Education (DepEd), through the National Education and Testing Research Center (NETRC), shall administer the National Achievement Test for public and private schools nationwide in March.
As indicated in DepEd Order No. 26, Series 2012, the School Calendar for SY 2012-2013, the NAT shall be administered on March 6 for fourth year students of public and private schools; March 12 for Grade 3 pupils of public and Madrasah schools; and March 13 for Grade VI pupils of public and private schools.
Through DepEd Memorandum No. 228, Series of 2012 released to bureau and regional directors, schools division/city superintendent, and heads of public and private elementary and secondary schools, Education Secretary Armin Luistro announced not only the administration of school year 2012-2013 NAT but also the Test of English Proficiency for Teachers (TEPT) and Process Skills Test (PST) in Science and Mathematics.
Luistro reminded that “only private elementary and secondary schools with permit to operate from DepEd shall be included in the conduct of the test.”
He said that “each examinee in NAT (Grade 6) shall be issued with a Certificate of Rating (CoR) containing the actual rating per subject area.” He added that the COR with “reflect the examinee’s readiness for high school.”
The mandatory inclusion of CoR in the NAT was ordered by Luistro last year “to provide the school with the sufficient entry data of each learner particularly on strengths and weaknesses in terms of competencies and to determine his or her readiness to tackle high school academic works.” (Ina Hernando Malipot)
