BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – The provincial and city governments of Surigao del Norte and Surigao City ordered a probe on the alleged food poisoning of 21 students who participated in the first 2012 Provincial Youth Summit at the Provincial Convention Center here.
Initial report showed that municipal mayors and other town officials who joined their students in the summit also suffered stomach problems.
Surigao del Norte Rep. Francisco T. Matugas, Gov. Sol F. Matugas and Surigao City Mayor Ernesto T. Matugas organized a medical team to look into the possible culprit in the incident.
“We are looking into what really happened,“ said Gov. Matugas.
At least 21 youths who participated in the 1st Provincial Youth Summit were rushed to different hospitals here on Saturday after eating their lunch allegedly served by an internationally known food chain. (Mike U. Crismundo)
