Printers must register, says BIR

Manila, Philippines – The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is requiring printers of sales invoices and other commercial receipts to register their operations with the bureau before accepting printing jobs from their clients.

BIR Commissioner Kim S. Jacinto-Henares stated in Revenue Regulation No.15-2012 that only authorized printers will be allowed to produce principal and suppementary invoices. Henares said penalties will be slapped against colorum printers as prescribed under Section 264 of the tax code, including fines of up to P50,000.

Special teams from the regional and district offices will conduct on-site inspection of printing facilities of the applicants before they are accredited. She said applications will be disapproved if the printers have unsettled tax debts and “for any misrepresentation on the sworn statement submitted by the applicants.”

A list of accredited printers will be posted at the BIR website (www.bir.gov.ph) per revenue district office (RDO). (Jun Ramirez)
