President’s Cup at Wack Wack

Manila, Philippines – The President’s Cup, one of Wack Wack’s signature tournaments held in honor of its incumbent president Dr. Philip Ella Juico, gets going Saturday (Dec. 1) with a big field seeing action
and an array of prizes at stake in the 18-hole tournament.

To accommodate the record number of 288 players, a double shotgun start at 6:30 a.m. and 12 noon will be held at Wack Wack’s West Course, according to WW Golf and Country Club’s Sports and Games committee chairman Carlos Baniqued.

Play will be under the Double Peoria scoring system with titles to be disputed in Groups I, II and III and seniors for the men’s category and in Groups I and II for the ladies and guest divisions.

Seven grand raffl e prizes, 16 major items, and over a hundred minor items will be given away to the members and president’s guests who have confirmed their participation in the tournament staged in appreciation for Dr. Juico’s hard work as the club’s chief executive officer. The former Philippine
Sports Commission chairman turns 65 on Dec. 14.

A brand new Chrysler C 300 from Cats Motors Phils, a Foton Thunder Pick-up Truck from United Asia Automotive Group, a golf cart from the Turf & Company, an APE Drive-away chassis from Autohub, a set of golf irons from Dynamic Sports and two business class tickets to the US from Delta Airlines will be up for grabs for hole-in-one feats.

Pacific on Line Corp., Unilever and Northern Islands Co. Inc. are the event’s major hole sponsors while the co-premier hole sponsors are EagleSky Technology Amusement, Inc., Friday’s (Boracay), San Miguel Corp., Stradcom Corp, St. Francis Square and TMS Ship Agencies, PLDT and Excellent Golfi ng Partners.

Other hole sponsors are Banco De Oro, CVC Law Firm, Duty Free Phils, G & W Club Shares, Jollibee Holdings, Madrigal Bayot Development, Pacific Links Golf Developers Inc., Sky Cable and Smart Communications while minor sponsors are Araneta Center, Robinson’s Land Corp., Techpoint Enterprises and Thunder Bird Resorts.

EVA Air is putting up a round trip ticket for two to the US or Canada as the grand prize in the raffle draw during awards rites to be graced by Cookie Chua, Willie Nepomuceno and Jojo Alejar at the William J. Shaw Pavilion.

Other supporters of the annual event are Raymondo’s Trophies, Philippine Wine Merchants, Camp John Hay DevCo., Chef Jesse Restaurants, Burger King, the Plaza and Via Mare.
