Los Angeles (dpa) – Sitcom Modern Family won the Emmy for best comedy series Sunday for the third consecutive year.
The comedy about an extended Los Angeles family also nabbed the first three prizes of the night as Eric Stonestreet, who plays one half of a gay couple on the show, won the prize of the evening for best supporting actor in a comedy.
Julie Bowen won the corresponding actress prize and Steve Levitan, the series’ creator, was named best comedy director.
