Philippines – Faith Leana Andaya won the silver in straight sword and Alieson Ken Omengan another silver in nanquan in the 4th World junior Wushu championship held at SEAC Multi-Sports Pavilion in Macau.
“We’re proud of their performances because they won medals despite strong opposition,” said Philippine Wushu Federation secretary-general Julian Camacho.
Around 30 countries took part in the tournament dubbed the “Olympic of Wushu” hosted for the ﬁ rst time by the former Portuguese colony and sanctioned by International Wushu Federation.
The Philippine Sports Commission bankrolled the participation of the 10 athletes headed by Philippine Wushu Federation president Tan She Ling and handled by Chinese coaches Tong Qing and Liu Yu Zhen. (Clyde Mariano)
