Manila, Philippines – BEAUTIFUL BATCH – “Ang gaganda nila” is the consensus at the presscon introducing the 16 finalists (eight guys and eight gals) of TV5’s “Artista Academy”
A beautiful batch, indeed, chosen from thousands of hopefuls, coming from all over the country. Mga mukhang artista. Also, all of them appear to be talented. But then the “best actor” and “best actress” will be known after one season (three months) of training and challenges at the Asian Academy of Television Arts, headed by Ms. Wilma Galvante.
P20 million, in cash and in kind, will be split by the two winners.
THE GUYS – They say a picture is worth a thousand words and so here are the finalists, starting with the eight guys, in their best poses, in no particular order.
AKIHIRO BLANCO, 17, Pasig, Japanese mestizo. Talent: Singing and dancing.
ALBERTO BRUNO, 16, Marikina, Italian lineage. Fluent in Pilipino, “intense and spontaneous personality.”
BENJO LEONCIO,21, Cebu, ramp model. (He joined TV5’s “Star Factor” two years ago but was disqualified because he was “overage,” 19 then. The age limit was 18.
VIN ABRENICA, 21, Pampanga, college degree holder. Younger brother of Aljur of GMA. Talent: Singing.
BRENT MANZANO, 20, Quezon City, with a pleasant disposition despite being emotionally and physically battered as a child. Determined to succeed.
CHRIS LEONARD, 20, Laguna, French mestizo. He grew up with his grandparents, hoping to give them a better life.
MARK NEUMANN, 17, Quezon City, Croatian mestizo, “Justin Bieber look-alike.” Born and raised in Germany, finished high school in Batangasm worked for awhile in England, but never forgot his Filipino roots.
JON ORLANDO, 19, “half-Italian, half-Filipino from Canada,” he calls himself. Grew up in Lerma, Sampaloc. Streetsmart, friendly.
So there you have the eight “Artista Academy” guys, potential stars all.
