Manila, Philippines – League leaders San Beda and San Sebastian tries to pull away from the rest of the field when it battles separate less fancied foes today at the start of the secondround eliminations of the 88th NCAA basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
Looking sharper and deadlier in each game, the defending champion Red Lions clash with the Lyceum Pirates at 6 p.m. The Stags, last year’s runner-up, collide with the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals at 4 p.m.
San Beda and San Sebastian finished the first-round elims tied with Jose Rizal University at 7-2 and a win would fortify their respective bids for the next round. EAC and Lyceum, for their part, dwell on the cellar with identical 2-7 records.
The Red Lions are fresh from a 65-43 win over the Letran Knights Thursday night, while the Stags are still riding the crest from an 80-71 victory over the Red Lions five days back.
San Beda and San Sebastian likewise aim for a repeat of their contrasting first-round wins against their respective foes.
