NARVACAN, Ilocos Sur – Eight members of the Philippine Army were injured Tuesday in a vehicular accident along a national highway in Barangay Tarinsing, Cordon, Isabela.
SPO4 Bernardino Labog, of Cordon Police Station, identified the injured soldiers as Sergeant Arvid James Malicia; Corporals James Cristobal, Rainier Padilla and Jose Beltran; Pfcs. Feliciano Tattao, Oliver Gabatan and Jeffrey Gallena; and Pvt. Renijon Camilo.
The injured victims along with seven other soldiers were on board a military truck from their camp in Mankayan, Benguet, en route to the headquarters of the Army’s 5th Infantry Division in Camp Melchor F. dela Cruz, Upi, Gamu, Isabela, at about 5 a.m. when the accident happened.
The military truck reportedly slammed into a tree and plunged into the deep side of the road after overtaking a motorcycle.
As a result, the eight soldiers sustained body injuries after the accident.
Responding lawmen rushed the injured victims to a hospital in Cordon, Isabela. (Freddie G. Lazaro)
