Philab rallies to nip Indons

Manila, Philippines – Philab rallied with four runs in the final inning to turn back Indonesia, 7-6, yesterday in the first game of a four-game friendly series at the Rizal Memorial diamond.

Trailing, 3-6, the Ballbusters struck with two doubles and two singles to drive home four runs.

Saxon Omandac preserved the win by holding his ground at the mound.

Omandac accounted for one of two doubles, the other scored by Jenald Pareja.

Andrew Cuyugan and Jonas Ponce scored the decisive singles.

“I told the boys not to give up because threre is one more inning,“ said Philab coach Wilfredo Hidalgo.

It was a sorry loss for the Indonesians who outhit the Filipinos 8-5.

Indonesia takes a rest today before meeting the national team on Monday at 9 a.m. also at the same venue. (Clyde Mariano)
