BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – Just a few meters away from Butuan City Metro Police Station and Police Box, robbers broke into a Western Union Money Transfer Branch ofﬁce here and carted away cash amounting to P1,088,272.15 and US$3,300.
The robbers ﬂed after scooping up the Philippine currency and US bills from two vaults.
The incident happened at 7:08 a.m. near the city’s Police Box on Montilla Blvd., Butuan City.
Initial police investigation showed that the robbers forcibly entered the Western Union Money Transfer Branch by destroying the two padlocks and the glass door using a piece of tie wire (picklock). (Mike U. Crismundo)
