Operating Room Nurses Association Of The Philippines Inc. Holds Its 38th Annual Convention And Scientific Meeting At The Historic Landmark Manila Hotel

MANILA, Philippines – The Operating Room Nurses Association of the Philippines Inc. (ORNAP) is holding its 38th Annual Convention and Scientific Meeting on July 7-8, 2012, at the Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel, with the theme “Perioperative Nursing Practice: Keeping the Culture of Excellence.”

The promotion of excellence and a high level of professionalism is the focus of the ORNAP Convention. The perioperative nurse, or operating room nurse, has a vital role in ensuring that patients get quality healthcare and service. Participants get updates on new and modern operating room procedures and nursing research.

From a small group founded in 1973, ORNAP has expanded with 10 chapters nationwide and membership of 7,500 in the International Organization of Perioperative Nurses. It pursues unity and cooperation among Filipino perioperative nurses, inspiring them to support each other in improving themselves and their craft.

Perioperative nursing is a specialized field of nursing practice. It is the care of a client or patient before, during, and after an operation or invasive procedure. It is a specialized nursing area in which a registered nurse works as a team member of other surgical healthcare professionals. They assist surgeons during an operation, take care of operating room tools, undergo specialized training for task after an operation, perform advance practice nursing, ensure availability of supplies, and make sure operating room staff and schedules are in order.

We greet the Operating Room Nurses Association of the Philippines Inc., headed by its National President Julieta C. Mangahis, Vice President Analyn H. Salivio, Secretary Redenta C. Mamaclay, Treasurer Eugene C. Camello, Auditor Jeovie P. Joya, other Officials and Members, on the occasion of its 38th Annual Convention and Scientific Meeting.
