Isko clarifies feud with Lim

Manila, Philippines – MANILA Vice Mayor Isko Moreno belied reports that he earned the ire of Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim when he chose to team up with the latter’s would-be political rival, former president Joseph Estrada.

Moreno pointed out that Lim began giving him the cold shoulder when he started to comment on certain issues about the latter’s governance in Manila.

“Ano lang naman ‘yan, kapag minsan may napupuna ka. Medyo hindi masyadong type ni Mayor na napupuna siya,“ said Moreno in an interview with PEP Online.

However, Moreno clarified that he had no intention of deriding the politician. Rather, he explained, “Napupuna lang na man siya dahil marami nang tao ang nakakapansin sa Lungsod ng Maynila na napag-iiwanan na nga.“

Although not getting into the nitty-gritty of the subject, Moreno said that Lim has to answer to “a lot“ of issues. Among these, he says, is how Manila has landed on the 36th spot out of the 38 in a study that tracks the progress of the cities, conducted by the Department of Interior and Local Government.

More, he added, “At ang Maynila sa buong Metro Manila, ay Number 15 out of 16.“

According to him, he only commented on the said issues in order to “get the attention“ of Mayor Lim, and perhaps spur the speedy resolution of the said dilemmas.

“Kung patuloy itong itatanggi, wala talagang mangyayaring maganda para sa siyudad,“ he said with resignation.

However, Moreno swiftly clarified that he does not wish to encroach on Lim’s mandate as the city’s Mayor.

“As much as possible, ipinauubaya namin sa kanya ang pagpapatakbo ng munisipyo. Siyempre, siya ang ating alkalde. Pero kaming lahat ay mananagot sa taong-bayan kapag ang siyudad na pinamumunuan namin ay talagang walang nangyayari,“ Moreno explained. (Bulletin Entertainment Online)
