Civil Engineers provide Rainwater Tank, Garbage Bins

Malita, Davao del Sur – On Tuesday, the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) – Davao City Chapter gave another push to its Project Green Engineering Philippines – Greening Existing Schools by turning over one rainwater tank and ten garbage bins to Nawan Primary School located at the hinterlands of barangay Pangian, Malita, Davao del Sur.

PICE was joined on this project by ABS-CBN Davao and Davies Paints who supported the project by identifying the remote recipient school and facilitating the donation of the greening facilities. The turn-over ceremony was attended by the PICE DC officers and members, barangay council officials, DepEd officials and teachers, parents and school pupils.

Engr. Erdsan Rene S. Suero, PICE Davao City chapter president said that what started as an idea to give only one school a rainwater tank and garbage bins quickly spread to a major PICE drive to donate at least one set of these greening facilities once a month to underprivileged schools in the area to promote rainwater harvesting, proper waste management and saving the environment.

In the past months, three schools were already recipients of the same greening facilities namely the Diego Silang Elementary School in Matina Aplaya, New Carmen Elementary School in Tugbok and Gatungan Elementary School in Bunawan, all in Davao City. PIO
