Senior Supt. Marcelo Pintac, director of the Maguindanao Police, said the victims were heading towards Lebak town in Sultan Kudarat at around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday when the incident occurred in Sitio Cocob in Barangay Kuya.
The dump truck is owned by the Provincial Government of Sultan Kudarat.
“The driver lost control of the steering wheel due to mechanical error, this resulted in the overturning of the truck,” said Pintac.

He identified the fatalities as Flordeliza BInas, Bon-Bon Binas, Femie Tecson and Joy-Joy Samillano. They all died on the spot.
Sixteen other passengers of the truck were also injured and taken to the nearby hospital.
Pintac could not say whether or not the victims are provincial government workers or residents who just requested the local government to use the dump truck for transportation. (Aaron Recuenco)
