UST installs Dagohoy as rector

Manila, Philippines – The University of Santo Tomas (UST) installed Rev. Fr. Herminio V. Dagohoy, O.P., Ph.D., yesterday as its 96th rector.

The solemn investiture rites followed the centuries-old UST traditional mass called “Misa de Apertura“ presided over by Archbishop Giuseppe Pinto, Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, at the opening of classes yesterday.

Also installed was Rev. Fr. Gerard Francisco Timoner III, O.P., UST Vice Chancellor. In his inaugural address, Dagohoy urged the Thomasian community to “walk with him with courage in pursuing the projects of the university.“

On top of them is the expansion of the Catholic school in General Santos City and Santa Rosa City, Laguna, to better serve the student population there. Dagohoy also plans to reinforce and strengthen UST’s research programs that will leave a lasting imprint on society. (Isabel C. de Leon)
