Groundwater assessment training in Cagayan

Philippines – The National Water Resources Board (NWRB) recently conducted the Orientation and Training on Isotope Sampling for the Groundwater Resources and Vulnerability Assessment (GRVA) in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan Province.

The activity was in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (DOST-PNRI), River Basin Control Office (RBCO), Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) – Region 2 and funded by the International Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA).

The isotope sampling orientation and training aimed to give an overview about the IAEA Water Availability Enhancement (I-Wave) Project being undertaken by the NWRB, DOST-PNRI and the Groundwater Vulnerability Assessment of the MGB.

NWRB Executive Director Vicente S. Paragas said that the activity put emphasis on the integration of isotope and geochemical techniques to improve water resources management.
