Manila, Philippines – A man was sentenced to six years imprisonment and fined P10, 000 by a Quezon City court for trying to activate somebody else’s credit card inside a bank six years ago.
In an eight-page decision, Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 221 Assisting Judge Genie Gapas – Agbada found accused Lawrence Yap guilty beyond reasonable doubt of violating the Access Devices Regulation Act (RA number 8484). On July 24, 2006 Yap went to the Citibank Square in Eastwood Quezon City and requested the activation of the Citibank Credit Card of Rizalino Valdez Jr.
