Cooking gas prices down anew

Manila, Philippines – The Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers Association (LPGMA) reduced prices last night.

LPGMA party-list Rep. Arnel Ty said the rollback is its second for this month. It also shed prices last June 5.

Since a regular household LPG cylinder weighs 11 kilograms, the rollback would translate to a markdown of P11 per tank.

“This is an advance rollback, this is supposed to be for next month,” said Ty, pointing to the continued decline in LPG contract prices as the reason for the price cut.

Figures from the Department of Energy (DoE) showed that LPG contract prices decreased by $130 per metric ton for June. The current contract price, which is tweaked on a monthly basis, is $739.50 per metric ton.

Major LPG players Petron Corp. (carriers of Gasul), Isla LPG (Solane, previous named Shellane), Total Philippines (Totalgaz), and bulk supplier Liquigaz shed as much as P5.50 per kilo off their prices last June 1.
