Beermen bonus

Manila, Philippines – More incentives are in store for the San Miguel Beermen and the Indonesia Warriors after making the finals of the AirAsia ASEAN Basketball League.

The Beermen and the Warriors will also represent Southeast Asia in the FIBA Asia Champions Cup set for October in Beirut, Lebanon.

Before the semifinal series, the league announced that the top two countries after the season will earn berths in Asia’s annual club cage competition.

San Miguel and Indonesia posted contrasting semifinal wins to arrange a best-of-three showdown for the ABL title, thus earning spots in the Lebanese capital against some of the top clubs from particularly the Middle East.

Defending champion Al-Riyadi of Lebanon and Iran’s Mahram Tehran, the two squads that met in last year’s finals at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City, have already earned entries after meeting in the West Asia Basketball League finals.

SMB survived the pesky challenge of the Westports Malaysia Dragons in three games while the Warriors dominated the AirAsia Philippine Patriots by sweeping their own series.
