Manila, Philippines – For failure to represent the Philippines in the Asia-Pacific Regional tournament in Indonesia, Bacolod has been suspended in future Little League series.
“It’s quite ironic and I feel sad to see things go this way. I have to do it to teach officials of the team a lesson they will never forget,“ Little League administrator and PSC Commissioner Jose Luis “Jolly“ Gomez said yesterday.
“Sumasali sa liga pag nagqualified hindi pupunta. They’re putting the Philippines in bad light in the eyes of World Series community. Ang bansa ang nasisira hindi sila,“ noted Gomez.
“It is not the fault of the players. Fact, I pity them because they missed the opportunity to represent the country. They’re very much willing to play but because of the failure of team officials to raise the needed logistics they would not be able to play in the prestigious competition,“ stressed Gomez.
Bacolod topped the junior league held at Clark and earned the right to represent the country in the Asia-Pacific in Jakarta, Indonesia. (Clyde Mariano)
