Cavite’s elusive ‘Purontong’ strikes again

CAMP GEN. PANTALEON GARCIA, IMUS, Cavite – Jayson Pakingan Jarin, Cavite’s wanted holdup man who was reportedly wounded in a shootout with a police team early this month, is back on the streets and has struck simultaneously yesterday morning in Kawit town, victimizing two woman car drivers.

Jarin, also known as Fermin Sabater and “Purontong,” is said to be carrying an “anting-anting” which protects him from bullets and apprehensions of pursuing policemen whenever he strikes.

Yesterday, Jarin surprised again police officers in this camp when they were informed by Chief Inspector Mamerto Malubay, Kawit town police chief, that Jarin struck twice in a span of 30 minutes on Centennial Road and made off with the shoulder bags of two women driving cars in the area.

In a report to Senior Supt. John C. Bulalacao, Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) director, Malubay identified the victim as one Ma. Rolinda Villanueva and a certain Lourdes Mapacpac Paderas, 40, a businesswoman, of Imus, Cavite. (Anthony Giron)
