Affordable, effective: Vilma goes generics

Manila, Philippines – NOT ONLY AFFORDABLE – Vilma Santos says she panics when members of her family get sick… just like all mothers. Health is wealth, after all.

As Batangas governor, one of her top priorities is health, which complements her latest endorsement, The Generics Pharmacy (TGP), which has over 1,350 branches all over the country, including Batangas.

But before endorsing TGP, Vilma conferred with its president and CEO, Benjamin I. Liuson, wanting to be sure that its medicines are not only affordable but also safe and effective. “Makulit ako,” the actress-public servant recalls.

Indeed, they are.

Vilma only knows too well how expensive branded drugs are, beyond the reach of the poor or even the middle class. She’s happy to be identified with a company that sells quality medicines at low prices.

CERTIFIED PHARMACIST – The other endorser of TGP is Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2012 Janine Mari Tugonon, a certified pharmacist with License No. 10191989.

She is a pharmacy graduate of UST, class 2010, cum laude.

At the press launch of TGP at Makati Shangri-la Hotel, Janine had a most interesting and exhaustive one-on-one with Vilma, covering the latter’s personal and professional life. No need for an open forum.

Vilma’s TGP endorsement includes radio, TV, print, billboards.

So there, Vilma’s pro-poor and pro-health stance fits well that TGP represents.

GOLDEN YEAR – 2012 marks Vilma Santos’ golden year (50th) in showbiz, starting as a child star in “Trudis Liit” at the age of nine.

Her current Star Cinema movie, “The Healing,” is part of the golden year celebration. Also being planned are a TV special and a coffee table book.

Showbiz is now third in her priorities, after family and public service. “I’m content doing one movie a year… or even one movie in three years.”

REELECTION – She is seeking her third and last term next year as Batangas governor, not at all interested in running for senator as speculated.

“One senator in the family is enough,” says Vilma.

Husband Ralph Recto is an incumbent senator.

She is a shoo-in for reelection.

Now, after Batangas, is it the vice presidency?

“I have no such ambition,” Vilma laughs.

But what if it’s your destiny, Ate Vi?
