Manila, Philippines – Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jesse M. Robredo has asked the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) for a prompt deputation of select police anti-gambling personnel to carry out cease and desist orders (CDOs) against 13 outlets of an on-line off-fronton jai-alai betting firm that allegedly doubles as front for jueteng operations.
This, as he made the request to GAB chairman Juan Ramon Guanzon last June 6 following the agency’s receipt of GAB’s board resolution No. 2012-02 providing for the internal rules on the deputation of PNP and other law enforcement agencies for
the conduct of government’s anti-illegal gambling operations.
“The department (DILG) welcomes this timely development especially in the light of our earlier requests from GAB for deputation of PNP personnel in the implementation of the Board’s CDOs against illegal off-fronton jaialai betting stations,” Robredo said in his letter to Guanzon.
The DILG chief requested Guanzon for the specific deputation of select PNP personnel for six months to cover at least 13 areas in Metro Manila where the Meridien Vista Gaming Corporation (MVGC) allegedly operates unauthorized on-line off-fronton jai-alai games.
The MVGC outlets, which was covered under GAB’s pending CDOs dated March 3, 2011, include the outlets at 1) 611 Compound, Mia Road, Bgy. 187, Pasay City; 2) 111 Road, Pildira II, NAIA, Bgy. 194, Pasay City; 3) 210 P. Santos St., Malibay, Pasay City; 4) 2228 Aurora Blvd., Bgy. 150, Pasay City; 5) G/F Holiday Plaza, Libertad, Bgy. 90, Pasay City; 6) Block 87, Lot 3, Sampaguita St., Bgy. 177, Camarin, Caloocan City; and 7) Golden Town Shopping Center, 8 Canaynay Ave., Evacom, San Dionisio, Paranaque City.
The other location of other MVGC outlets include 8) 692 Quirino Ave., San Dionisio, Paranaque City; 9) 41 Ninoy Aquino Avenue, Bgy. Sto. Niño, Parañaque City; 10) G/F VP Bldg., Sucat Road Cor. Parañaque Ave., United Parañaque 5, Paranaque City; 11) 873 J. P Rizal St., Concepcion Uno, Marikina City; 12) GPC Bldg., / Galicia Commercial Complex, Gov. Santiago, cor. Capt. Cruz St., Malinta, Valenzuela; and 13) Blk 27, Lot 3, Phase 5A, Package 1, Bagong Silang, Caloocan City.
“I hope that GAB would also grant our request for deputation of PNP personnel in the provinces which would also implement GAB’s CDOs. Somehow, the Department feels the urgency of the problems brought by the illegal number games and the importance of the new role given us by GAB as deputies in the enforcement of its CDOs,” Robredo said.
The DILG, he said, commits itself to the new GAB resolution no. 201202 including but not limited to the requirement that only five deputies per province are allowed; and the premise that the deputation can be cut short by GAB.
